This Man Claims His iPhone 6 Burned A Hole Through His Pants

A Phoenix man is claiming his iPhone 6 burned a hole through his pants, causing second-degree burns, according to a FOX 10 report.

Phillip Lechter says he was on a rickshaw with his family when his iPhone hit a bar inside the cart, causing it to bend.

When Lechter got out of the rickshaw, he felt a burning sensation on his leg.

His iPhone was on fire.

Lechter says he thinks the burning was caused by the iPhone's lithium-ion battery, which bent when the phone hit the rickshaw.

Stories of exploding and burning smartphones crop up from time to time. Most, if not all of them, are totally bogus. For those who believe in things like this...Nigerian Tribune is reporting that a baby was born recently in Oyo state clutching a pocket-size Qur’an (pictured above).

The baby, who has since been named Ismail, was born in a church at the Oniyanrin area of Ibadan in September, the reports states. A renowned Islamic preacher who the newspaper spoke with said the woman who delivered the baby threw away the object she found in the baby's hand thinking it was something devilish, only for them to later find out it was a pocket-size Qur’an which contained all the 114 chapters in the holy book. It was wrapped in a thread. The preacher said although the Qur’an was small, the lettering inside was readable.


The child's parent who were not practicing any faith prior to the birth of Ismail, now say they will revert to Islam as this was a sign directly from Allah.

They also said since the news broke, their residence have become a mecca or sort as Ibadan people troop there to have a glimpse of the little boy.

Kidnappers Now Withdraw Ransom From ATMs – Police

The Rivers State Police Command says kidnappers in the state have changed their mode of operation. The police said the new method being employed by kidnappers was to first abduct their victims and force them to reveal their ATM Personal Identification Numbers.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ahmad Mohammad, said after withdrawing the money, the kidnappers would then release their victims. He urged members of the public to be wary of how they carried their ATM card.
He said, “The command wishes to bring to the notice of the general public of the new technique employed by criminals to drain their victims’ bank accounts by keeping them hostage and using the victims’ ATM cards to withdraw money from their account.

“Such victim regains freedom only after his bank account has been exhausted. Members of the public are hereby advised to exercise caution when moving about with their ATM cards on them unless it is most necessary.”

Oscar Pistrious sentenced to 5 years in prison

For killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine's Day in 2013, double-amputee athlete Oscar Pistorius has been sentenced to 5 years in prison by Judge Thokozile Masipa.

The following was what she considered before imposing her sentence.
1. Culpable homicide - 5 years in prison
2. For the Tasha shooting which he was found guilty for - 3 years in prison, wholly suspended for 5 years with conditions. The two sentences will run concurrently. His family is not planning to appeal.

He will serve a minimum of 10 months in jail, after that, he'll be sent home to serve the remainder of his sentence under strict supervision controls. This will be up to South African Correction Services.

NYSC: We Will Review The Compulsory N4,000 Mobilisation Fee- Abba Moro

The Minister of Interior, Abba Moro today on Channels Tv’s breakfast programme, Sunrise, has promised the Federal Government would review the N4, 000 online registration fee imposed on prospective corps members by the National Youth Service Corps.

Most of the corps members have been saying the imposed N4,000 fee to download call-up letters online is outrageous and they will not be willing to pay such an amount. This has generated a lot of controversies online, but the minister promised the Federal government will now look into it.


It will be recalled that, the Director, Corps Mobilisation, Anthony Ani said the N4, 000 online registration fee was introduced so as to stop fresh graduates from traveling back to their various schools to pick up their call-upletters.

WHO declares Nigeria Ebola-free

The World Health Organisation, on Monday morning, declared Nigeria Ebola-free after 42-day period with no new cases in the country.

Today marks three months after widespread fear that Ebola virus could spread through Nigeria, Africa’s most populous nation.

The WHO declaration is premised on the fact that Nigeria has not had a confirmed case of Ebola for 42 days or two incubation periods of 21 days, just as it did for Senegal on Friday, the AFP said.
