A high school English teacher in Connecticut was charged with sexual assault and selling marijuana stemming from an alleged relationship with one of her students.

The mother of Real Madrid star player Cristiano Ronaldo has admitted that she drank alcohol and ran until she ‘dropped’ in an attempt to abort him while she was pregnant. Dolores Aveiro, the Mother revealed the story in a biography called Mother Courage, which was released in Portugal today. In the book, Mrs Aveiro admitted that she tried to abort Ronaldo – who is the youngest of four children – by drinking warm beer and running ’till she dropped’ following the refusal of doctors to carry out the procedure. She said: ‘I wanted to abort but the doctor didn’t support my decision.’ She said: ‘He told me when he found out, “Look mum, you wanted to abort and now I’m the one who’s pulling the purse-strings in the house.”‘ Mrs Aveiro also addressed Ronaldo’s son, Cristiano Jr, in the biography and said that she had picked up the child – whose mother’s identity remains a secret – from a Florida clinic four years ago while her son played in the World Cup in South Africa. She said Ronaldo had told her he was ‘going to have a child’ and wanted his mother to educate and love the boy.

MH17 is the third plane this week shot down over Ukraine under mysterious circumstances

We don't yet know who shot down Malaysian Airlines flight MH17, which went down over eastern Ukraine on Thursday. There's no conclusive evidence so far, but speculation is centering on the pro-Russia rebels who have been operating in the region for the last few months.

FIFA Lifts Ban On Nigeria

Thee crisis that has rocked the Nigeria Football Federation since the Aminu Maigari-led board was sacked on July 6 is to be resolved today in line with FIFA's deadline for suspension lifting.

FIFAThe development is as a result of the vacation of a suit in High Court Jos, which had earlier granted restraining order against Maigari's board thus preventing him and his board from administering Nigerian football.

FIFA demanded for the withdrawal of the case as well as the reinstatement of the Maigari-led board of the NFF as conditions before lifting the suspension placed on the country since last week.

Nigeria was lucky to have the world football governing body extend the deadline for compliance to today due to the judicial workers strike which prevented the court to sit on the earlier fixed July 15.

The Amos Adamu-led lobby team sent to FIFA by sports minister Dr. Tammy Danagogo to intimate FIFA on issues that necessitated Maigari's removal returned to the country yesterday and has submitted its report, which hasn't been made public.

The latest development has saved Nigeria bid to participate in the U-20 FIFA Women's World Cup, as well as the male African U-17 Championship qualifier this weekend.

Maigari and his board will resume their duties today and continue their normal functions until next month's elections when they could be sacked through the ballot, in line with FIFA's statuses.

Ghanaian Actor, Van Vicker Says Ghana Actors Guild ‘Abandoned’ Him After His Injury

After sustaining a leg injury during a football friendly between the Ghana Actors Guild (GAG) and their Nigerian counterparts (AGN) at Kumasi Sports Stadium in March, African top actor, Van Vicker has expressed anger for being neglected by GAG during the period.

The Abia State Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr Kenneth Nwosu, who was shot by suspected assassins on Wednesday July 9th has died. He died from gunshot wounds he sustained following the attack along the Umuajata/Amakama road while driving from Umuahia the capital city to his home at Olokoro in Umuahia South local government.

He was rushed to the Abia State Specialist Hospital Umuahia where he had been receiving medical attention. Unfortunately he didn't make it. He died on Monday July 14th, six days after the attack.

His death was announced by the Abia State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Eze Chikamnayo at a press conference yesterday Tuesday July 15th. Mr Chikanmayo said Dr Nwosu's death was a great loss to the people of Abia state. May his soul rest in peace...amen.

A security guard, Azeez Ibrahim, has shot dead a female undergraduate of Babcock University, Busayo Ogunkoya, during a birthday party in a hotel in Ikorodu, Lagos State.

PUNCH Metro learnt that 22-year-old Ogunkoya was celebrating with her friends on Saturday evening, July 5, 2014, at Mambillah Hotel, when the guard fired a shot that killed her.

A German national simply identified as Mr Fisch has been abducted by gunmen in Gombi town in Adamawa state. According to Premium Times, Mr Fisch, who runs a free of charge technical school in Adamawa state was said to be on his way to work when he was abducted around 7am this morning around the Anguwan Faransa area of the town. A resident of the area said the gunmen laid a siege on the man's house and accosted him as he came out of his house to enter his car

They now called the two sets on motorcycles who approached them and they carried him away on their motorcycle. Most of the time he uses his own money to buy equipment and repair our boreholes,” he added.

Phone dealers threaten to shut down Ikeja computer village for three days

Phone and Allied Product Dealers Association of Nigeria (PAPDAN) has threatened to closedown the Ikeja Computer Village in Lagos for three consecutive days, beginning from Yesterday, Monday in protest of the raid carried out by the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) on alleged fake phone dealers . PAPDAN is the association of mobile phone dealers at the Computer Village market. Chairman of PAPDAN, Mr. Godfrey Iyke Nwosu, who issued circular to all its members to boycott business at the ever busy market beginning from today, to protest the sudden raid on its members by SON on Saturday, told THISDAY that the decision to closedown the market for three days became necessary following the continued harassments by SON and heavily armed policemen on the traders.

A cellphone video has captured the incredible moment a 3yr old girl woke up during preparations for her own funeral in a church in Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur, in the Philippines. The girl had been declared dead by doctors at a local hospital on Friday July 11th after being taken there the day before suffering from a fever for several days.

Her parents took her to the church the next day, with family and friends gathered for the burial when the unthinkable happened. It was only when one of her parents’ neighbours removed the lid of the coffin to arrange the girl’s remains that she saw the little girl’s head move. She immediately alerted the girl’s father who quickly removed her from the coffin and took her to hospital. It was later found that the girl was in a state of comatose, not dead.
