Ouch!! Joan Rivers Says First Lady, Michelle Obama Is Transgender

American Comedian and E!News show host, Joan Rivers recently officiated a same-sex wedding and was asked by a photographer if she believed the United States would ever see the first gay or female president. Her response was typical Rivers. “We already have it with Obama, so let’s just calm down,” she said. “You know Michelle (Obama) is a trans.” When asked to further explain Rivers said, “A transgender. We all know it.” A representative for Rivers released the following statement to CNN from the comic about her remarks to the photographer: “I think it’s a compliment. She’s so attractive, tall, with a beautiful body, great face, does great makeup. Take a look and go back to La Cage Au Follies (sic). The most gorgeous women are transgender. Stop it already … and if you want to talk about ‘politically correct,’ I think this is a ‘politically incorrect’ attack on me because I’m old, Jewish, a woman and a ‘hetty’ — a heteosexual … and I plan to sue the reporter who, when he turned off his camera, tried to touch me inappropriately on the a** – luckily he hit my ankle. Read the book … if you think that’s silly, wait to (sic) you see what I say about FDR and Eleanor!” Rivers is no stranger to controversy. In March 2013 she refused to apologize for a joke she made about the dress “Project Runway” host Heidi Klum wore to the Academy Awards. “The last time a German looked this hot was when they were pushing Jews into the ovens,” Rivers said while appearing on the E! channel’s “Fashion Police” show.

Court Fixes Date on Ban of Hijab in Lagos Schools

The Muslim Student Association of Nigeria recently filed a suit against the Lagos State Government over the use of Hijab in primary and secondary schools. Justice Modupe Onyeabo of a Lagos High Court in Ikeja, has set September 26 to deliver judgment on the case. Two Muslim students of Aturashe Junior High School, Surulere, Lagos, filed the suit through their fathers. They claim the restriction of the use of Hijab at the school violates their fundamental rights, calling it wrongful and unconstitutional. According to Channels TV, the date was fixed after counsel to the students Gani Adetola-Kaseem (SAN) and the Lagos State Solicitor-General Lawal Pedro (SAN) argued and adopted their written submissions. In his arguments in court on Friday, Adetola-Kaseem stated that the essence of wearing Hijab by Muslim females is to prevent them from tempting the opposite sex or being tempted by them. He insisted that it is mandatory for all Muslim girls who have attained puberty to participate fully in the practice of Islam, which includes the dressing mode, worship and fasting. A nd from the Islamic point of view, womanhood is determined not by biological age or marriage but by the time the person attain puberty. Adetola-Kaseem urged to grant the application because the position of the Lagos State Government, violates the religious rights of the applicants and the court’s duty to protect them. The counsel to the government said that wearing of uniforms in public primary and secondary schools is for identification of students from different schools in Lagos, as well as to encourage a sense of unity, discipline, organisation and orderliness amongst the schools.

“I’m not a church goer, why should we be praying for 2-3hrs non-stop?” – Charlyboy on father’s funeral mass

charlyboy angelss Charles Oputa, AKA Charlyboy, recently got everyone talking when he showed up at the memorial service of his father, Justice Chukwudifu Oputa, with his own ‘throne’ and a pair of funny dressed ladies who stood behind him while the ceremony went on. Speaking to Vanguard, the Maverick entertainer gave his reasons for the actions. “First of all, I am not a church goer. I am a Buddhist, though I was born into the Catholic doctrine. And part of my reason for not going to church is the fact that I have been to a lot of churches. For the first 20 years of my life, I was a mass servant. I was an ‘altar boy’ because my father was a disciplinarian. If you don’t go to morning mass, you are bound to be in trouble. I did all that for 20 years, and that’s the kind of background I was coming from. But things have changed regarding the mode of worship in most churches. They spend more time than necessary. Why should we be praying for two to three hours non-stop? I have other things to do.” He further said “Also, one of my legs was paining me, and that was why, if you were in church that day, you will notice I was sitting down throughout. People didn’t understand why I was sitting down. I couldn’t stand up for too long. ” charlyboy angels On why he cut short some politicians from giving long tributes, he said “We had spent about two to three hours in the church. We couldn’t afford to give all the politicians that attended the funeral rites the opportunity to pay tribute to my late father. I felt the only person who should deliver a speech was Mr. President’s representative. At that point, I was so stressed and tired. All I wanted was to commit my father’s remains to mother earth. So, I insisted, as the eldest son of Justice Oputa on how things were going to be done. At that point, I said please, no more talk, it’s too much, let one person speak so we can go and finish the business. That was what happened but you know people will mis-interpret it. That is their business, not mine.” He quipped.

Georgia man charged with murder of son in hot car

A suburban Atlanta man who prosecutors said intentionally left his 22-month-old son strapped inside a hot car to die because he wanted to live a child-free life will remain jailed pending his trial, a judge ruled on Thursday. Magistrate Judge Frank Cox also found probable cause for murder and child cruelty charges against Justin Ross Harris, 33, of Marietta, Georgia, after hearing evidence that he exchanged nude photographs with women other than his wife while he was at work and his son was dying in the car on June 18. The lead investigator in the case testified Harris was having marital and work problems. He had done Internet research on living child-free and how to survive in prison before leaving son Cooper Harris in his sport utility vehicle for seven hours on a hot day, said Cobb County Police Detective Phil Stoddard. "We believe the evidence has shown that this was intentional," Assistant District Attorney Chuck Boring said. Defense attorney Maddox Kilgore accused prosecutors of trying to publicly shame Harris with tawdry testimony. He said there was no proof that his client knowingly left the child in the car on a day when the temperature in Atlanta was in the 90s (30s C). Harris told police he forgot to drop his son off at daycare before heading to work the morning of June 18. "An action doesn't become a crime because the results were catastrophic," Kilgore said. Testimony on Thursday focused largely on Harris' actions and behavior on the day his son died. Harris said he ate breakfast at a restaurant with Cooper, kissed him after strapping him into a rear-facing carseat and then forgot his son was there as he drove less than a mile (1.6 km) to work, according to Stoddard. Stoddard said Harris raised police suspicions by not mentioning he had visited his car to drop something off during his lunch break and by not showing emotion when interviewed later by detectives. Two coworkers said Harris did not appear nervous that day. A man who saw the father after he pulled into a shopping center parking lot and appeared to try to revive his son said he believed Harris' grief at the scene was genuine. "I heard the desperate cries of a father who had just lost his son," said witness Leonard Madden. According to search warrants, Harris and his wife said they had conducted Internet searches about how hot cars needed to be for a child to die inside because they feared it would happen. Harris' wife has not been charged, and police have declined to say whether she is a suspect. When Leanna Harris went to pick up Cooper from daycare on June 18 and learned he was not there, she told the receptionist, "Ross must have left him in the car," Stoddard testified.

Women abduct nine-year-old girl, sell her for N650,000

The Lagos StatePolice Command has arrested four women for allegedly abducting and selling a nine-year-old girl, identified simply as Blessing, for N650,000. The women are Fausat Ogidan, Abibat Oresanya, Bola Obajuruwa and Idiyat Abass. Our correspondent gathered that the women were apprehended on Sunday, June 6, after a tip-off. The state Commissionerof Police, Umar Manko, had directed the command’s Special Anti-RobberySquad, led by SP Abba Kyari, to go after the child sellers’ syndicate. Ogidan, who was with the nine-year-old girl, and collected the sum on behalf of others, was arrested in the Gbagada area of Lagos. Our correspondent gathered that the 51-year-old woman, who is married with four children, had arranged to sell the girl and on that Sunday. Further investigations by our correspondent revealed that the girl was given to Ogidan by Obajuruwa, commonly known as Iya Alaje, who lives in the Suberu Street, Alakuko area of Lagos. Iya Alaje also confessed that she had told Ogidan to sell the girl for N350,000 before she was caught. She said, “I used to sell herbs in the Agege Market. I told Fausat (Ogidan) to sell the girl forN350,000, but Fausat added N300,000 as her own profit. The girl was sold to me by Idiyat (Abass) and her elder sister, Abibat. “I bought her from them for N130,000. They said they were going to give the money to the girl’s mother who wanted to get rid of her because of poverty.” Obajuruwa, when arrested, had led the police to Abass and Oresanya, who got the girl from her parents and connived to sell her.
Our correspondent further learnt that Abass, a 48-year-old woman, who was living in the Salau Dogo Street, Ibafo area of Ogun State, had obtained the girl from her mother, who the police said was still at large. It was gathered that Oresanya claimed that Blessing’s mother had wanted to dispose of her and use the money obtained to take care of her other children. However, during interrogation, Blessing, who said her real name was Yetunde, told the police that she was kidnapped from their residence in Ibadan. When our correspondent visited Obajuruwa’s residence in Alakuko, her octogenarian mother said she had yet to find out what the police arrested her daughter for. She said, “I just heard that policemen from Agege Police Division had come to take her away. I don’t know why she is being detained by them. I have yet to know her offence.” Another relative, who identified herself simply as Funmi, claimed that Obajuruwa gave out Blessing, who was her grandchild, to a customer to assist in home chores. She said,“There are about seven to eight children in this house. They are all Iya Alaje’s grandchildren. So, it happened that when one of her customers put to bed recently. She pleaded with mama to give her someone to assist her. Iya Alaje took Blessing, her seven-year-old granddaughter, to be staying with her. The second day, Blessing ran away from that house, and told the people who saw her that she had been kidnapped by the customer. “That was why the police arrested mama and the customer, saying they kidnapped the girl.” Our correspondent learnt that investigations were ongoing at the SARS on the matter. The LagosState Police spokesperson, Ngozi Braide, promised to get back to our correspondent, but had yet to do so as of the time of going to the press.

Bridge collapses in Ndi Ebe Abam, Abia State:see Photo

The popular Igwu bridge linking Ndi Ebe Abam to other towns collapsed yesterday July 1st when a 25 tons tipper carrying gravel plied on it. Fortunately no life was lost but now the villagers say they have been cut off from other towns as a result of the collapsed bridge which served as the only motor-able road through which the indigenes used to connect with other towns. They sent me the photo and asked that we appeal to the Arochukwu L.G.A. Chairman and Abia State government to come to their aid, saying people residing in the town have been adversely affected by this mishap. They are appealing to the authorities concerned to help them rebuild the bridge in a modern form that will last longer than the former one which was made with irons and planks and maintained by the indigenes for many years. They also implored the government to help them construct the road which has been neglected for years.

Woman Sets Home On Fire Trying To Kill Spider With Lighter

Don’t get caught in a web of bad decisions. A woman in Hutchinson, Kansas, is charged with arson after police say she set her home on fire during an attempt to kill a spider, the Hutchinson News reports. Ginny M. Griffith, 34, told officers she used a cigarette lighter to set some towels on fire around 1:30 a.m., Friday. She was hoping to catch the little arachnid with the flaming towels and burn it to death, according to WTSP. It’s unclear if she ever caught the spider, but the fire that resulted did necessitate intervention from the fire department. Five units were summoned and managed to control the fire, which they said had multiple points of origin, within a matter of minutes. Griffith’s aggravated arson charge stems from the fact that the other half of the duplex was occupied when the blaze began. No one, besides potentially the spider, was injured in the fire and the building only suffered light smoke damage.

NOUN graduates to participate in NYSC -... - National Open university

VICE Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Professor Vincent Tenebe, has said that arrangements have reached an advance stage for graduates of the institution that are within the stipulated age to be allowed to participate in the one-year compulsory National Youth Service Scheme (NYSC). Speaking to journalists in Kaduna on Monday, the vice-chancellor said they were mindful of the youths who were coming into NOUN fresh and had reached an agreement with the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) which had made it mandatory for them to pay for every graduate within the age of participating in the scheme so that they could send names to NYSC. “We have just done that, so all our graduates who are below the age of 30 will key into the NYSC system. I will also use this forum to tell the Federal Government that you do not deprive any graduate of Open University who is supposed to go for NYSC, because if you do that, you will be discouraging the youths from coming into the system. If you discourage them from coming to the Open University, you don’t have space for them in the conventional universities. “If you don’t allow them to go to the conventional universities, you are building up a population of illiterates. When you build a population of illiterates, you build up crises in your society and then you have a time bomb,” he said

Pistorius had no mental disorder -Report

Oscar Pistorius did not have a mental disorder when he killed his girlfriend, a psychological report said as his murder trial resumed. The report was presented following an evaluation into his mental health. His defence team has argued he was suffering from an anxiety disorder at the time of the shooting. The athlete denies deliberately killing Reeva Steenkamp. He says he shot her accidentally in a state of panic after mistaking her for an intruder. Both prosecution and defence have accepted the results of the report. Pistorius would not have been criminally responsible for the shooting if the report had stated that he was mentally ill, says the BBC’s Milton Nkosi who is in court. The court is hearing from Dr Gerry Versfeld, who amputated Pistorius’ legs when he was just 11 months old. He had been born without the fibulas in both of his legs but went on to become an Olympic athlete. Versfeld is testifying about the impact of the disability on Mr Pistorius, 27, and to what extent he can walk without his prosthetic legs. The defence is expected to finish presenting its evidence in the next few days. Steenkamp, a 29-year-old model and law graduate, was shot through a toilet door at Pistorius’ house in Pretoria on Valentine’s Day last year. The couple had been dating for three months. “Mr Pistorius did not suffer from a mental illness or defect that would have rendered him criminally not responsible for the offence charged,” said state prosecutor Gerrie Nel, reading from the psychologist report. The prosecution requested the evaluation after a defence witness said the double amputee was suffering from Generalised Anxiety Disorder. Pistorius, 27, underwent a month of tests as an outpatient at Weskoppies psychiatric hospital in Pretoria. There are no juries at trials in South Africa, so the athlete’s fate will ultimately be decided by the judge, assisted by two assessors. If found guilty of murder, Pistorius, who went on trial on March 3 this year, could face life imprisonment. If he is acquitted of that charge, the court will consider an alternative charge of culpable homicide, for which he could receive about 15 years in prison.
