A woman, Eunice Ugwuozor, has been stabbed to death by her son, Uchechukwu, in Enugu State.
The incident took place in Ubiekpo Abor community in the Udi Local Government Area of Enugu on October 2, 2014.
It was gathered that while the motive for the crime had yet to be determined, the alleged perpetrator had been arrested by the police.
A statement from the Police Public Relations Officer, Enugu State Police Command, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, explained that the woman was asleep when her son stabbed her around 5am.
Uchechukwu reportedly abandoned his mother’s lifeless body in the house and fled before he was apprehended.
The statement noted that the alleged murderer had an unresolved psychological problem.
Amaraizu further said, “Operatives of the State Criminal Investigations Division of the Enugu State command of the Nigeria Police Force have commenced a full scale investigation to unravel the mystery and circumstances surrounding the alleged stabbing to death of the woman by the son.”
He added that the corpse of the deceased had been deposited at the mortuary of Our Saviour Hospital, Ninth Mile Corner, Ngwo.
