Female Doctor Tests Positive To Ebola Virus In Port Harcourt
A female doctor has been cpnfirmed to be infected with the Ebola Virus in Port Harcourt, River state. The doctor was on admission at the Green Hart hospital where a doctor, Iyke Enemoah, was treated after contracting the deadly virus from an ECOWAS staff who arrived the state from Lagos where he had primary contact with Liberian man, Patrick Sawyer, who brought the disease to Nigeria.
The minister of health, Prof Onyebuchi Chukwu made this known on Monday, September 1, 2014 during a National Emergency Council meeting on Ebola outbreak in Nigeria.
Chukwu said the doctor who tested positive is now being treated at the Ebola isolation ward in Rivers state.
With this new confirmed case, River state has now recorded two Ebola cases; has a total of three Ebola cases; the index case being the doctor who died, Iyke Enemoah.
About 100 people are under surveillance in the state.
